Hey there to all in TLW land! I’m Sarah and I’m from London, England. I worked at TLW during the summer of 2010 and had the most amazing experience with the most amazing memories that will always be with me!  Thinking about going to West as a counselor?  Well I say GO FOR IT!

I found out about TLW through a program in the UK called Camp Leaders and was thrilled to find out that I would be spending my summer at Timber Lake West. I was lucky enough to have 2 jobs at TLW – I was the Art Barn “floater” and a General Counselor.  As a “floater” my job was to help out the Art Barn in its busiest areas because EVERYONE wanted to be in the barn and as a General Counselor I made sure that my campers had a great summer by providing a safe and fun environment.

The best thing about camp is that every day is different! There is so much variety and so many activities that no two days are ever the same! The staff at West are some of the most amazing people I have ever met –  EVERYONE got along not only with each other, but we all “meshed” with the campers too. It was such a unique experience to see the dynamics of the different relationships between the staff and the campers and seeing the campers having a more positive attitude towards making new friends while reuniting with old ones.  I truly had the best time! 😀

I have so many “favorites” about camp that it really is hard to think of just one! There are the camp plays, the camp-outs, the evening activities…etc. But after thinking really hard, I would have to say that my favorite thing about West was being involved in Color War!  You’re excited, the campers are excited and there is so much energy around the camp it’s hard not to be emotionally invested!

If I was to say anything to someone thinking about going to Timber Lake West, it would be to GO FOR IT!  I can honestly say there is no other place that feels more like home than Timber Lake West. Working there changed my life. The memories you take away with you and the friends you make there over the course of the summer is just unbelievable!  There isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t think about TLW – it truly becomes a part of who you are and I am a better person because of my time spent there.
