Indian Summer 2012

We loaded up the buses on Long Island with campers and weekend necessities, then cut through New York City on our way to Paramus to pick up some of our New Jersey campers!  With two buses filled with 80+ campers, we headed back to our home away from home for a long anticipated great Indian Summer weekend with some of our campers!

There was a little drizzle on the bus trip up, but that didn’t slow us down! By the time we got to camp, although the skies were slightly gray, there was no rain to be found. Our Indian Summer campers were greeted by about 30 counselors and staff who were thrilled to be back in “summer mode,” even if only for a weekend.

Everyone enjoyed some of our favorite camp lunches combined into one big food fest: pizza, fries and chicken tenders! After we finished-off the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies served with ice cream, we wondered how can we burn off some of those calories???  Hummm…… What about a hike to the rock quarry?  So off we went!  We returned in time for dinner and rounded the evening up with a big bonfire, complete with s’mores!

The next morning our campers enjoyed a breakfast buffet of omelets (any style!), pancakes, hash browns, bagels, and donuts. Before boarding the bus, everyone received their commemorative Indian Summer t-shirt! What a fantastic weekend!!!
