Morry’s Swim-a-thon!

It is with great enthusiasm that we write to you about our campers’ success at our annual Morry’s Camp Swim-A-Thon. Our Camper’s participation in this event is strictly voluntary and what mighty volunteers they proved to be! This summer our campers swam close to 10,000 laps, 9830 laps to be exact!

Just Keep Swimming

We swim for Morry’s Camp  to raise funds for children who would not otherwise be able to attend summer camp. We want to do this not only to give back to the camp community but because Morry Stein was a leader in the field of camping. His life was tragically cut short when the American Eagle flight from Indianapolis in October of 1994, crashed. Morry was an inspiration to thousands of individuals in his life. His dream was to bring the summer camp experience to all children. After his death, a group of his friends and colleagues joined forces to bring his dream to reality by founding Project Morry.

Each summer our Teen I and Teen II divisions run our swim-a-thon. They are in charge of everything from start to finish: the ad campaign prior to the event, counting and keeping track of laps, creating fun gimmicks to get the campers to swim more laps, etc.

Our Teen II’s travel each session to Morry’s Camp to gain insight and a better understanding as to why we host this event. It is always amazing to hear them speak to the camp, after their visit. Listen to what an impact their short time at Morry’s Camp made upon them:

All proceeds from our Swim-a-thon go to Project Morry, a year round youth development organization, with a resident summer camp as its anchor, honoring the Memory of Morry Stein. If you would like to make a contribution to support our camper’s efforts, we would be most appreciative. You may contribute in one of two ways: checks can be made out to Morry’s Camp and mailed back to us at 85 Crescent Beach Road, Glen Cove, NY, 11542 or you may donate online at Project Morry.
