Hey everybody! My name is Josephine (with the yellow towel!) I’m 21 years old and I’m from Jacksonville, Florida. During the year I’m a Biology student at Florida State University (go ‘noles!). When I’m not at camp I like running, playing soccer and I’m learning how to play the piano.

When I first applied to work at Timber Lake West, I thought it was going to be just a fun “summer job,” but it became so much more than that. This summer I’ll be returning for my third summer as a General Counselor and I couldn’t be more excited! West became a part of me in a way that I never thought possible. I went to camp knowing only one person and went home having found a new family.

From the first day I arrived at camp I felt welcomed by this wonderful group of people. After a relatively short time I fell in love with everything about Timber Lake West. I met amazing people of all ages and from all over the world.  Some of my favorite times at TLW include Apache Relay, being called “José” by my campers and co-counselors, and playing the Amazing Race: Camp Edition. (See the video below)

During the other ten months of the year, camp is always on my mind. My friends and family will attest that I talk about West 24/7. The walls of my room are covered with pictures to remind me of summers past. My TLW staff t-shirts have become a staple in my wardrobe and every time I wear one, I feel like I have a little piece of camp with me. It is obvious to everyone that Timber Lake West is my second home.

I will be forever grateful for the unforgettable experiences and great friends that West has given me. I’m counting down until the endless and carefree days of summer when I’ll be home again in the beautiful Catskill Mountains. 100 days until first session and 128 days until second session!
