Michele Rosenberg (Assistant Girls' Head Counselor/Girls' Athletic Director) & Bobby Bond (Boys' Athletic Director) tied the knot at camp Memorial Day Weekend. As the two met at camp it was only fitting that they were married there as well. Another camp romance seems to be headed down the aisle. Lucy Jackson (Head Ropes) accepted Mike Hull's (Wild Card) proposal in New York City, after camp, this summer. Congratulations to both Lucy and Mike!
This just in from our star Alumni News reporter, Allison Porter (former Group Leader) - Shannon Mahar (former Group Leader) and her husband have announced that they are expecting their first baby! Lots of romances these days! Jan Dolinay (Kitchen Crew Leader) met his wife Gulya Begarisheva (Kitchen Crew '04 & Arts & Crafts Specialist '05) at camp. The two were married in the Czech Republic in October. We wish them both well in their new life together and hope to see them back in camp this summer!
Another tax deduction arrived on April 15, 2006 for former Group Leader, John McCloskey and his wife, Paula! Kate Lauren Grace joins her big brother and sister.
Jen (Williams) Jacks, another former Group Leader, gave birth to her second son, Benjamin Joe, on April 26, 2006. The Jacks' latest bundle of joy weighed in at 8lbs and was 21 inches long.
Lori (Kessler) Kraemer, who was a camper, counselor and girls' athletic director for us, checked in to update us on what is going on in her life. She is living in Vermont, with her husband, Dave and working as a guidance counselor in New Hampshire, although not for much longer, as she has decided it is not the career for her. Lori is not sure what she will be doing next. Congratulations to Erin (Boughey) Early and her husband Jake on their daughter Ella's baptism!
Goran Grgac, a former member of our Maintenance Crew, spent the last year working in the Sahara for an oil company. He much preferred the moderate Roscoe summer temperatures to the Sahara's where it was typically 140 degrees F. Although he enjoyed the experience - sort of! - he is grateful to be back in Zagreb. Cristina (Moisan) Marcu former kitchen staff member in the ‘90's, from Romania, became a mom on the 24th of June. She and her husband have a wonderfull baby girl, named Daria. Cristina's sister-in-law Andreea Marcu worked in the kitchen this past summer. (insert pic)
The East Coast boys from West were on the move again. For the second time in as many years, Rob Schustack, Larry Goldman, Greg Rubinstein, and Brett Donatelli made their way out to visit old camp friends in Kansas City for the Chief's season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. The "New York Boys" met their Midwestern counterparts on Friday evening and spent the weekend reminiscing of the good old days back in the summers of '97 and '98. The boys enjoyed a lovely stay at good friend Seth Halton and wife, Aimee's house. A huge coach bus picked them up at 7:30AM on Sunday morning and shuttled them to the game. West Alumni included the four East Coasters along with Jeremy and Brad Askren, Aaron Schaffer, and Seth Halton. About 40 people made our way to Arrowhead Stadium for a day of tailgating and cheering for the hometown Chiefs. The highlight of the weekend came when the "New York Boys" purchased an astounding $73 worth of food from Sonic. The waitress mentioned a record my have been broken. Meanwhile, over an order of chili cheese tots with mustard and onions....and bacon, Schustack and Donatelli discussed a strategy for air lifting one of the thousands of Sonics and lowering it in the middle of Manhattan. It's always a great time when the "New York Boys" get a chance to meet up with the "Kansas Crew." A great weekend was had by all, and on the flight home everyone was checking their schedules for when they could return to Kansas City.
